Black Sea Security
The Black Sea Region has gained an increased importance with the EU gradual expansion on east and NATO's transformation required by the changing strategic environment. Moreover, the region faces various common security challenges, which seek their cooperative responses.
CSEES Black Sea Security programme focuses on challenges to security in the Black Sea region. It seeks to carry out a critical examination of perceptions of these challenges. It also aims to generate fresh proposals as to how they should be met. The programme is multidisciplinary in character and welcomes a variety of analytical approaches. It promotes lively constructive debate among academics, policy analysts and policy makers in the diplomatic, defence, industrial and NGO sectors. The programme focuses on the following topics:
- Challenges to, and developments in, Black Sea Security;
- Multilateral, interagency and naval cooperation in the Black Sea region;
- Defence procurement in the Black Sea region;
- Terrorism and transnational organised crime – and their implications for security in the Black Sea region.
