Sarajevo, 8 April: Eufor [European Force] Commander David Leakey has said that at today's meeting with representatives of the agencies for the implementation of laws in Bosnia-Hercegovina, the collocutors examined specific ways for these agencies to lend their support to Eufor in Bosnia-Hercegovina in the fight against organized crime and they agreed on an integrated approach of dealing with certain operations.

Leakey held talks with the senior officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Bosnia-Hercegovina State Border Service (DGS), Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA), Administration for Indirect Taxation and the [Bosnian] Serb Republic and the Federation police. The talks were aimed at examining plans for future cooperation, said a statement by Eufor.

The statement further said that the meeting was also attended by representatives of the international organizations which dealt with law implementation, or rather the EUMP [EU Police Mission], KAFAO [Customs and Fiscal Assistance Office funded by the EU] and the OHR [Office of High Representative]. [Passage omitted]

Leakey expressed his hope that he would not have to chair these meetings in the future, but rather that the Bosnia-Hercegovina authorities would take the lead in the fight against organized crime.

In the last couple of days, the Eufor commander also held talks with the RS and the Federation interior ministers in order to brief them about the Eufor's support operations to local agencies and institutions.

The next meeting at which the results of the forthcoming operations will be discussed and future operations planned will be held in mid-May, the statement said.
